VOLCANO conceives choreography as a complex system, a structured set of knowledge, competences, and body practices linked together, in which the creative act is not made buy the single steps but by the entire interaction of all the parts, creating rising creative behaviors.
That means that every choreographic piece is born by hidden characteristic and reasons which are inexplicable focusing on the single element.
In another way, every creative act is the result of a non-linear interaction, which opens relations with different disciplinary path, also one unrelated to the other, but fully connected.
If we ignore the reasons of the process, this process could appear chaotic and complicated.
Anyway, if we comprehend the transfer from one level to the other, once the relations between the elements and the practices are clear, then more constant logics and methodologies appear.
From an unexpected relation born the clarification of what used to appear chaotic.
We only have to change our point of view. We only have to change method. An example? Talking about space means to understand how the matter aggregates; it’s a physic order, but is also a choreographic basic; is from here that the body takes his perceptive and physiological rules, and also the movement functions; from here it set his relation with gravity, the fundamental element of the movement.
VOLCANO wants to be a scienza nova of the creation processes, of the choreographic transmission and of the knowledge in which is involved in a path growing up through phases in a two year time. with this news system of transmission, young choreographers and dancers are asked to deal with.
VOLCANO, starting from that, wants to contribute to – thanks to the national and international network made with the different subjects– the main aim of enhancing the European identity founded on the creative processes, which deal with the thoughts and the ethic of the body in the choreographic world. We believe that culture and education in the creative field, the spread and the sharing of knowledge are one of the mail stone on which build a new citizenship practice.
